Henkel names Dial CEO
Dusseldorf, Germany-based Henkel KGaA has named Bradley A. Casper president and chief executive officer of subsidiary The Dial Corporation, Scottsdale, AZ.

CM B2B Group shuffles staff
Eileen Meehan was appointed senior editor of the CM B2B Trade Group, a division of Latham-based NTP Media and publisher of CM/Cleaning & Maintenance Management magazine.

Katy Coleman, previously associate editor, was named news editor of CM e-News Daily.

Kris Ross was named associate editor of CM/Cleaning & Maintenance Management and CM/Cleanfax magazines.

Matt Gallinger, formerly executive director of the Cleaning Management Institute® (CMI), was named publisher, CM B2B Trade Group, responsible for all revenue streams for the group’s publications.

Tina DeSanto was named advertising associate of the CM B2B Trade Group.

Katrine Gavigan, previously marketing and events manager, was promoted to director of CMI.

Nicole Older, formerly membership coordinator of CMI, was promoted to assistant director.

IEHA names leaders
The International Executive Housekeeper Association (IEHA), Westerville, OH, named Hazel Reese president, J. Darrel Hicks president-elect of the Upper Midwest District, Donna Prater secretary/treasurer for the Central International District, and Eric Bates Upper Midwest district director for the board of directors.

BSCAI names Custodian of Year
Dennis Breuer, cleaning specialist for FBG Service Corporation’s Davenport, IA branch was named Custodian of the Year at the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) 2005 Annual Convention and Trade Show in Orlando; he received round-trip airfare to Orlando, $1,000 and other forms of recognition.

IMACC names VP
The Independent Mitigation and Cleaning/Conservation (IMACC™), Naperville, IL, appointed Bill Schroeder vice president of Business Development and vice president of National Markets for IMACC™.

Grainger shuffles VPs
Chicago-based W.W. Grainger promoted Laura D. Brown to vice president, Marketing, and Debra S. Oler to vice president, Marketing and Sales Effectiveness.

Brown had been vice president of Market Planning, and Oler — who has also been temporarily given expanded responsibility for sales organization — was vice president of Sales Operations.

Jani-King names director
Jani-King of New Orleans named Murray F. Cleveland, Jr. regional director.

Prior to joining Jani-King, Cleveland worked in the construction industry for 20 years, headed his own marketing firm, and co-founded a medical waste-processing equipment provider.

U.S. Products names manager

U.S. Products, Inc., Coeur d''Alene, ID, named Brad Lucas western regional manager, to work directly with some of the company''s largest distributors and manufacturers'' representatives.

Green program to certify cleaners
Both in-house cleaning organizations and building service contractors (BSCs) can now apply for green cleaning certification of their cleaning program through Utah-based ManageMen, Inc.’s (OS1) standard.

The certification is earned by cleaning services and contractors who apply for certification and meet the (OS1) standard, based on a rigorous third-party audit.

Undocumented workers cost Wal-Mart $11M
Wal-Mart agreed to pay $11 million to settle federal allegations that it employed illegal immigrants to clean its stores.

A dozen contractors who hired the laborers agreed to plead guilty to criminal immigration charges and together pay an additional $4 million in fines.

Since 1998, federal authorities have uncovered at least 250 cases of illegal immigrants employed by janitor contracting services hired by Wal-Mart in 21 states.

CMI and BSC to certify hundreds
Cleaning Management Institute® (CMI), Latham, NY, announced that Dallas-based building service contractor (BSC) REDLEE/SCS GROUP will be implementing the CMI Custodial Technician Training and Certification program to train its workers.

REDLEE/SCS GROUP currently has six CMI-certified Custodial Technician Trainers who will roll out the program, and said it hopes to train and certify hundreds of managers and technicians.

World''s largest cleaning co. sells for $3.8B
EQT Partners AB and Goldman Sachs Group Inc.’s private-equity arm recently agreed to buy Denmark’s ISS A/S, the world’s largest cleaning company, for about $3.8 billion in cash.

ISS has operations in 42 countries, reaps annual revenue of 40.36 billion kroner, and employs 270,000.

Spartan teams with Green Seal
Spartan Chemical Company, Maumee, OH, will support and contribute to Washington, DC-based Green Seal’s funding to develop a Green Cleaning Services standard.
