Former ServiceMaster exec nominated for cabinet post
Former ServiceMaster executive vice president Steven Preston, administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration since 2006, has been nominated by President Bush to be Secretary of Housing & Urban Development.

Bush praised Preston as "a reformer who would act aggressively to help Americans obtain affordable mortgages and be able to keep their homes."

SCA North America names president
JanSan manufacturer SCA Tissue of North America has promoted Don Lewis to president.

Lewis had been senior vice president of sales and marketing at SCA Tissue for seven years, and had previously worked for Encore Paper, which was acquired by SCA in 2001.

UGL Unicco hires facilities VP
National building service contractor UGL Unicco of Newton, MA, has hired Thomas Gunn as vice president of facility management solutions.

Gunn joins Unicco from Emcor Facilities Services, where he oversaw facilities services for 4.6 million square feet of commercial properties.

Unicco also promoted Heidi Anderson-Rhodes to senior director of facility management solutions.

Clarke adds two sales execs
Springdale, AR-based JanSan manufacturer Clarke has hired two JanSan veterans as regional sales managers.

Jeff Howell, who has 18 years of JanSan experience, is the new regional sales manager for Michigan and Ohio.

John Devery, who has 14 years of JanSan experience, is the new regional sales manager for Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North and South Dakota.

Spartan names regional manager
JanSan manufacturer Spartan Chemical Co. Inc. of Maumee, OH, has hired Mark Nosiglia as regional manager of the St. Louis, MO, region.

Nosiglia has more than 20 years’ experience in the JanSan industry.

Triple S hires VP
JanSan distributor Triple S of Billerica, MA, has hired Fred Dobson as vice president of national/multi-location accounts.

Triple S is a national distribution, networking, sales, marketing and logistics company with 115 member-dealers and four regional distribution centers.

Betco hires three regional managers and a marketer
Toledo, OH-based JanSan manufacturer Betco Corp. has hired Jarrett Williams, Mike Stone, and Bryan Monroe as regional managers.

Their territories are Panhandle Florida to New Orleans for Williams; Houston for Stone; and Maryland and Virginia for Monroe.

Betco also hired Elizabeth Cotton as a skin care products marketing manager and Curt Hitchner as corporate accounts manager.

EnvirOx promotes two to VP
JanSan manufacturer EnvirOx LLC of Danville, IL, has promoted Larry Lopata to vice president of sales and Josh Clemence to vice president of operations.

Lopata, who joined EnvirOx in July 2003, has previously worked as national sales manager and Western regional sales manager at EnvirOx.

Clemence has been manager of manufacturing, and had also worked on regulatory and legal affairs, product development, information technology, and the creation of company-wide reporting systems at EnvirOx.

Pro-Link hires sales VP
Pro-Link, a JanSan marketing and buying group based in Canton, MA, has hired Brian Slack as vice president of sales.

Slack, a longtime JanSan industry veteran, will oversee Pro-Link''s nationwide network of regional managers.

Atlas Paper names execs
JanSan manufacturer Atlas Paper Mills of Hialeah, FL, has named several top executives.

Rosa Thuemler, who had been Atlas'' chief financial officer, will be president and chief executive officer.

Maria Figueroa Byrd will replace Thuemler as CFO, and Joseph G. O''Brien will be the new vice president of sales and marketing.


Waxie buys Asplund
San Diego-based JanSan distributor Waxie Sanitary Supply has acquired Asplund Supply Inc., which services markets in Washington and Alaska.

Mike Midas will be the general manager of the acquired company, as well as the Waxie location in Portland, OR.

Asplund has five locations — Auburn and Wenatchee in Washington, and Fairbanks, Anchorage and Kenai in Alaska.
