Spartan hires sales manager
Maumee, OH-based JanSan chemical manufacturer Spartan Chemical Company has promoted a sales rep to regional sales manager.

Jack Ellison is the new regional sales manager for the Connecticut region.

Ellison has been an area sales rep for Spartan since November and has worked directly and indirectly with Spartan for 12 years.

Von Drehle names two to exec posts
Hickory, NC-based towel/tissue manufacturer von Drehle Corp. has promoted Carey Latimer to vice president of operations and hired Craig Keenan as chief financial officer.

Latimer has been von Drehle’s CFO for seven years; Keenan had been von Drehle’s external CPA from 1998 to 2001.

Tennant hires VP/chief technical officer
JanSan manufacturer Tennant Co. has hired Mike Schaefer as vice president and chief technical officer.

Schaefer, who had been a vice president at Ecolab for the past seven years, will have responsibility for Tennant’s global research and development efforts.

ProTeam names two executives
Vacuum manufacturer ProTeam Inc. of Boise, ID, has promoted Jacalyn High to marketing manager and hired Rob Green as director of engineering.

High has worked for two years at ProTeam as a marketing project coordinator.

Green has 24 years of engineering experience at firms like Bosch and Skil Tools.

CSPA elects JanSan execs
Several executives of JanSan manufacturers were recently elected to positions on the board of the Washington-based Consumer Specialty Products Association.

Kelly Semrau of S.C. Johnson & Co. was elected board chairman.

Also elected to the board were Todd Nelmark of McIntyre Group, William Schalitz of Spartan Chemical Company, Richard Theiler of The Dial Corporation, James Westerhaus of Ecolab Inc., Tammy Westerman of State Industrial Products Corp., and Stanley Weller of Zep.

Betco promotes sales exec
JanSan manufacturer Betco Corp. of Toledo, OH, has promoted Jeff Satterfield to division manager.

Satterfield has been a regional manager with Betco for six years.

Satterfield’s division includes Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

IFMA names gov’t relations director
The International Facility Managers Association (IFMA), headquartered in Houston, has named Jeffery Johnson as director of government relations.

Johnson, who has a wide variety of political and governmental relations experience, will work in IFMA’s Washington office to develop and strengthen partnerships between IFMA, governmental agencies, and other organizations.

Coverall unit hires operations director
Coverall Cleaning Concepts master franchisor Coverall Mountain and Pacific has hired cleaning franchise veteran Richard Whitaker as director of franchise operations.

Whitaker will oversee California regional directors in Carpinteria, Fresno, Los Angeles and San Francisco, and also work to open new regional offices in Salt Lake City, Boise, ID, Albuquerque, NM, and Reno, NV.

Whitaker has more than 20 years experience in the franchise commercial cleaning business, most of it with Coverall.

ABM buys rest of Southern
San Francisco-based building service contractor ABM Industries Inc. has acquired the 50 percent of Southern Management Company that it does not already own.

ABM paid $24 million for the 50-percent stake; it had acquired 50 percent of Southern Management when it bought OneSource Services in November.

Southern Management has annual revenues of $68 million, and provides facilities services throughout the South.
