ProTeam sales executives are ICE certified

Bob Cusick, Rich Stanley, Ray Noonan and Rich Steinberg have completed the ISSA Certification Expert (ICE) training.

NCL appoints director of educational sales

National Chemical Laboratories (NCL) announces the appointment of Robert Wellman to director of educational sales.

Wellman brings over 25 years of experience in the JanSan industry to NCL and is committed to healthy, green cleaning specific to K-12 education customers.

Wellman will work closely with NCL regional sales representatives and distributors to increase brand awareness for the Earth Sense® product and training programs in this important consumer category.

Spartan Chemical promotes two

John Swigart has been promoted to executive vice president and James Lenardson has been promoted to executive vice president of operations.

Swigart''s duties, on top of his new executive vice president role, include maintaining his seat on Spartan''s Board of Directors and overseeing Spartan''s U.S. distributor relations.

Before being promoted to executive vice president of operations, Lenardson was plant manager, director of plant operations and vice president of operations.

ProTeam and American Lung Association partnership

ProTeam recently announced it has renewed its national partnership with the American Lung Association.

Aetna Building Maintenance receives safety award

The Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) awarded Aetna Building Maintenance its top safety award at the 2009 BSCAI Annual Convention and Trade Show.

The award is BSCAI''s ongoing effort to promote industry safety and is given to organizations with excellent safety records.

Aetna Building Maintenance won in the category of 1,038,961 – 2,598,960 hours worked.

AH&LA and IEHA partner to help hotels go green

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) and the International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA) have joined forces to advance the greening of 48,000 U.S. hotels.

The partnership initially focuses on encouraging IEHA members to adopt AH&LA''s recently developed 11 Minimum Environmental Guidelines in hotel housekeeping departments, part of more than 60 overall guidelines that encourage hotels to measure performance in energy, water and waste reduction, and include case studies, business cases and resources.

Rite Way Service presented with safety award

BSCAI recently recognized Rite Way Service for an "Outstanding Overall Record in Employee and Vehicle Safety" for 2008.

According to Glenn Keedy, Rite Way''s safety director, "2008 was by far the safest year in Rite Way''s great history. This achievement points directly to everyone in the company doing their job and doing it safely."

EPA to recommend green claims for disinfectants and sanitizers

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials voiced interest in recommending the adoption of a policy that allows suppliers to make valid green claims for disinfectants and sanitizers.

It is also possible that a policy will be established that would allow the use of ecolabels in conjunction with the marketing of hard surface antimicrobial products in cooperation with the EPA''s Design for the Environment (DfE) program.

The EPA will make the recommendations on green claims at the April 22-23 meeting of EPA''s Pesticide Policy Dialogue Committee.

Clorox has first EPA-registered bleach to kill C. diff

The Clorox Company''s Ultra Clorox® Germicidal Bleach is the first and only product to obtain federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registration for killing Clostridium difficle (C. diff ) spores on hard, non-porous surfaces.

Ultra Clorox Germicidal Bleach is a registered disinfectant for use in all 50 states.

C. diff spores can persist in the environment for many months and are highly resistant to many disinfecting formulations, until now.

Cascades Tissue Group receives EcoLogo certification

With 37 additional items in its away-from-home product line receiving third-party EcoLogo certification, over 85 percent of Cascades'' commercial brands now carry EcoLogo certification.

As of March 1, 2009, all North River and Décor towel and tissue brand products will be noted as EcoLogo-certified.

Kimberly-Clark Corporation has acquired Jackson Products Inc., a safety products and personal protection equipment (PPE) company.

Jackson Products employs 400 people, all of which will remain employed with the company, but now under the Kimberly-Clark banner.
