West Michigan USGBC Elects Chair

Renae Hesselink, vice president of sustainability at Nichols Paper & Supply, has been elected the new chair for the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) of West Michigan.

Hesselink is one of 740 Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professionals (LEED-APs) in Western Michigan.

Zephyr Manufacturing Company Names President

R.J. Lindstrom was recently promoted to the position of president at Zephyr Manufacturing Company.

Lindstrom, a graduate of Truman State University, has prepared for his role as president by having direct involvement in all aspects of manufacturing, operations and sales with Zephyr since 2008.

John Lindstrom, previous president of Zephyr, will retain his positions as chief financial officer and chairman of the board.

Conrad Kelso Of FEA Earns LEED-AP Designation

Facility Engineering Associates (FEA) recently announced that Conrad Kelso has earned the designation of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED-AP).

The LEED-AP designation is awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to those that have a demonstrated knowledge of the LEED rating system and the green principles and techniques it encompasses.

Betco Expands Marketing Department With New Hire

Betco Corporation recently announced the expansion of their marketing department with the hiring of Jeff Robertson as marketing manager of building service contractors (BSCs) and retail development.

Robertson has launched over two dozen new products and programs through his work with previous employers and has experience creating strategic plans and providing marketing leadership.

Robertson''s duties will include developing relationships with BSCs and retailers to grow the Betco brand and market share.

Nichols Appoints Vice President Of Sales And Marketing

Nichols Paper & Supply recently announced the appointment of Hal Grossman to the position of vice president of sales and marketing.

Grossman, who has been with the company for 14 years, has held management positions in market development, customer accounts and sales.

As vice president of sales and marketing, Grossman will oversee all functions of the sales and marketing divisions of Nichols.


CMI And TLA Partner To Offer Educational Podcasts

The Cleaning Management Institute® (CMI) and Tripod Learning Associates (TLA) are partnering to offer podcasts to CMI members through TLA''s website.

The podcasts — which cover a variety of topics including tactical cleaning challenges, winning business for contractors and dealing with staff management issues — are available free of charge to CMI members and Cleaning & Maintenance Management® magazine subscribers.

Earth Friendly Products Names Manufacturer Representative Firm Of The Year

Earth Friendly Products recently announced that Cherokee Equipment Inc. has been awarded the Manufacturer Representative Firm of the Year award for the second year running.

The award — launched last year and based on gross sales, commitment and dedication to the Earth Friendly Products Proline — was accepted by Cherokee Equipment Inc. President and Owner Vince Marchetti.

Stratus Building Solutions Expands

Stratus Building Solutions recently announced the company''s expansion into Central America with the award of a new master franchise in the Republic of Panama.

The company will expand into Panama under the operation of Mark Bashforth and Jayson Bashforth, who currently operate Stratus Building Solutions of Houston.

The new master franchise, located in the Panama Pacifico International Business Park, opened on February 1.

Pro Clean Earns CIMS-GB Certification

Pro Clean Building Maintenance Inc. recently became the first cleaning company in the state of Florida to achieve ISSA''s Cleaning Industry Management Standard-Green Building (CIMS-GB).

Pro Clean is now one of only 11 organizations nationally to achieve the certification that applies to the management, operations, performance systems and delivery of environmentally preferable cleaning services.

P&G Expands Supplier Agreement With Premier

Procter & Gamble Professional recently reached a contracted supplier agreement to supply on-premise laundry products, equipment and services at special pricing to Premier Inc. members.

This is the third agreement Procter & Gamble Professional has made with Premier Inc., and the 36-month license is effective immediately.

SDA To Change Name To ACI

The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA) recently announced that it will become the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) in June 2010, coinciding with a major redesign and launch of its website.

The name change is hoped to provide easier access to relevant, consumer-friendly information in the digital age.
