Diversey Chairman Takes Leave Of Absence

Diversey Inc. has announced that S. Curtis Johnson will take leave of absence, naming Helen Johnson-Leipold as chairman.

The announcement came after the notice from Johnson that he was resigning from the board of directors and taking a leave of absence as chairman.

Johnson told the board he is taking a leave for personal reasons.

Johnson-Leipold, a member of the board of directors for both Diversey Holdings and Diversey Inc., is chairman of Johnson Financial Group and chief executive officer (CEO) and chairman of Johnson Outdoors Inc.

Nilfisk-Advance Salesman ''Gets The Ax''

Most companies recognize their salesperson of the year with an award; but, at Nilfisk-Advance Inc., it''s a tradition to “give them the ax.”

Winning the distinguished 2010 Salesman of the Year award was District Manager Jim Brazil, whose territory covers the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.

Brazil was “given the ax” at the company''s annual North American Sales Meeting, which included a formal dinner and awards ceremony.

Brazil joined Nilfisk-Advance in 2005 and has consistently displayed great pride in his job and a determination to bring his territory to new heights.

ProTeam Announces Canadian Hire

ProTeam Inc. is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Scott Purdie in the role of Canadian sales manager.

With an extensive 15-year background in the janitorial industry, Purdie has previously worked with Activeion Cleaning Solutions LLC, Nilfisk-Advance Inc. and Minuteman International in high-level positions covering distribution, management and sales.

Mourning The Passing Of A Friend

On January 5, 2011, Michele Budreaux, vice president of sales for KleenRite Equipment, lost her fight with cancer.

Having spent over 20 years with KleenRite, Budreaux was well-known in the industry.

All who were acquainted with Budreaux knew her to be very tenacious, never wanting to give up on anything.

KleenRite and Budreaux''s son, Kyle, thank all who called with concern and support throughout her fight and for their condolences since her untimely death.

ServiceMaster Names New CEO

Hank Mullany, former executive vice president of Walmart U.S. and president of Walmart''s Northern business, became the new chief executive officer (CEO) of ServiceMaster Company at the end of March.

Mullany succeeds J. Patrick Spainhour, who recently announced his retirement.

West Michigan USGBC Board Named

The West Michigan Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) recently announced their 2011 Board of Directors.

Officers include: Renae Hesselink of Nichols Paper and Supply as chair; Steve Willobee of Soils and Materials Engineers Inc. as vice chair; Earl Eddy of Kingscott Associates as treasurer; and Nick Carlson of Goodwill Industries of Grand Rapids as secretary.

Board members include: Scott Whisler of Grand Valley State University; Kris Ford of Owens-Ames-Kimball Company; James McCarty of Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber Inc.; Brian Schultz of Grand Rapids Community College; Lynda Boomer of Michigan State University; Cheri Holman of Hurst Mechanical; Victor Tvedten of Catalyst Partners; and Steve Hassevoort of InForm Architecture.


Dosatron Celebrates 25 Years

Dosatron International Inc. is celebrating 25 years of providing superior water-powered chemical dosing technology.

Spartan Holds Sales Seminar

More than 65 industry professionals from across the United States, the Caribbean and Mexico converged at Spartan Chemical Company Inc. headquarters on February 21 to take part in a Clothesline Fresh Laundry and SparClean Warewash seminar.

The seminar featured two class levels for sales technicians and service representatives, and attendees learned about Spartan''s laundry and warewash products, as well as sales techniques.

A parallel session was held with advanced training for individuals who have been service representatives for at least two years.

Federal Building Services Earns High Marks

Federal Building Services'' Woodfield Mall location has achieved the Science-Based Cleaning Certificate of Excellence award.

The award is based on scoring over 80 percent on The Clean Audit, a third-party evaluation of the cleaning process of a facility that examines compliance, cleaning process design, training, recordkeeping and the cleanliness of the facility itself via a set of scientific measurements for biological contamination of surfaces, indoor air quality and floor safety.

Swisher Hygiene Expands Portfolio

Swisher Hygiene has acquired businesses in Upstate New York and in Atlanta in deals worth a total of $7 million.

Swisher has acquired the health care and hospitality division of Solvents and Petroleum Service Inc., which operates in Syracuse and Rochester, New York, and ADCO Services Inc., an Atlanta-based company that provides laundry, housekeeping and other commercial cleaning services.

Nexstep Honors Sales Agency

Nexstep Commercial Products LLC recently announced Waldco Sales of Lindenhurst, New York, as its 2010 Sales Rep Agency of the Year.

Waldco Sales was established in 1988 and has represented Nexstep Commercial Products since February 2003.

Cintas Announces Contest Winners

Marquette General Hospital (MGH) in Marquette, Michigan, is the winner of Cintas Corporation''s 2011 Wear the Care Contest.

Selected from more than 170 entries, the 85 individuals in the housekeeping and laundry departments at MGH will receive a complimentary Image Apparel makeover.

In addition, a $1,000 donation will be made on their behalf to the Marquette General Foundation.

EPA Recognizes School District

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has given recognition to the Philadelphia School District for initiating a comprehensive plan to improve indoor air quality (IAQ) at more than 360 buildings owned by the district.

The EPA''s Great Start Award recognizes schools and school districts that are taking steps to make the (IAQ) in their buildings healthier for students and faculty.
