CRANSTON, RI — The Cranston School Committee has reached a contract agreement with Cranston''s custodial union, according to the Cranston Patch.

The agreement, made with the National Association of Government Employees (NAGE) Local 153, will save the district nearly $2 million over the three years of the contract, the article stated.

According to the article, the contract features major concessions by custodians, who accepted a 15 percent pay cut and changes to their benefits package; the pay cut is effective March 12 of this year.

The contract could prevent the district from further looking into the option of outsourcing custodial services, the article noted.
