WASHINGTON – National Cleaning for a Reason Week (April 18-24, 2010) is currently in progress and members of The Soap and Detergent Association (SDA) are offering financial and logistical support to the Foundation, according to a press release.
The Cleaning for a Reason Foundation offers free professional housecleaning services once a month for four months to women undergoing treatment for cancer.
According to the press release, SDA members raised more than $10,000 at the association''s first-ever Cleaning for a Reason Charity Golf Tournament, held at SDA''s 2010 Industry Convention in Orlando.
"Through the work of the Foundation, cancer patients are receiving a true gift of significance — a clean home when they really need it," said Nancy Bock, SDA vice president of education. "You can''t put a price on the importance of sustaining a clean home during times of treatment. That is why SDA is involved and why we encourage individuals and families to learn more about the Foundation."
To date, the Foundation has granted more than $500,000 in free cleanings, helping over 3,500 women, stated the release, and more than 667 residential cleaning services from 50 different states have volunteered.
