Monday''s Ask the Experts question from a cleaning professional on the International Custodial Advisors Network (ICAN) "Ask the Experts" page: How do you properly mix all types of chemicals, floor stripper, carpet shampoo and disinfectants?
The only way to properly mix chemicals for any cleaning use is to follow the manufacturer’s directions and measure both the water and the chemical used. The chemical is usually added to the water to prevent generating excess foam or spattering of a concentrate due to water pressure.
When a 1 to 8 ratio is called for, the larger number is the water, not the concentrate you are diluting. Get it backwards and you will waste chemical and possibly harm surfaces. Some specialty coatings such two or three part epoxy and wood finishes will specify part A into B, and then into C. Always read and follow... — Bill Griffin, President
