Would it need to be honed or can I just strip the finish and polish with recrystallization?
You will need to start by chemical stripping so you can accurately determine the condition of the marble. Crystallization may be an option, honing will not produce a high shine, you may need to restore the marble by diamond polishing or possibly one of the new diamond impregnated floor pad systems may produce an acceptable shine.
Twenty year’s buildup is a lot and will involve multiple applications of stripper solution and much agitation to loosen it all. Time and patience will be required.
