The March issue of CM/Cleaning & Maintenance Management® magazine is now available online, featuring Beth Pullin''s Facility Focus article on preventing slip and fall accidents.
Pullin states that slips, trips and falls are, according to a study conducted by Liberty Mutual Workplace Safety, the second leading cause of workplace injuries and accidents in the U.S.
She notes that one of the most common causes of slip and fall incidents is moisture or oily substances on the walker''s shoes or on the floor.
According to Pullin, proper floor maintenance, including dust and damp mopping and incorporating an effective matting system, is a must.
Pullin adds that preventing slips and falls is the responsibility of the facility service provider.
Beth Pullin is a writer for the professional cleaning and building industries.
