LANSING, MI — Local maintenance man Ron Olson was picking up trash in the parking lot where he works in Lansing Township, when he came upon a small fortune: A bundle of cash, according to the Lansing State Journal.
"It looked like it had been there quite a while," said the 76-year-old Lansing man. "It was wet and frozen."
The bundle — worth more than $2,000 — was wrapped in a paper bank band, the article noted.
"I could use it, but it doesn''t belong to me and I''m a Christian," Olson said.
Olson, who described himself as "far from being wealthy," said he never considered keeping the money, the article stated.
According to the article, Olson reported the find to the police department in the jurisdiction where he found the money and will turn the cash over to that department if nobody claims it within a few days.
