DINWIDDLE, VA — Maintenance crews from Dinwiddle County have been recognized by the school board for working tirelessly to fix up schools in the wake of Hurricane Irene, according to the Progress-Index.
Many members of the school''s maintenance department worked during the actual hurricane to ensure the schools remained safe and intact, some at the expense of their own homes, the article stated.
According to the article, the school board recognized the members of the department for their hard work and for going "above and beyond what was expected."
"We''ve been extremely fortunate to have an outstanding maintenance department in Dinwiddie County," board member Richard Maitland said.
