OSWEGO, NY — City officials are looking to fix up the Civic Arts Center after poor maintenance has led to accidents and injuries, according to the Oswego County Today.

At a council meeting on Monday, resident Sandra Dowie explained how her daughter fell on the steps outside the center, spraining her ankle; she has been under a doctor’s care and going through physical therapy ever since, the article stated.

According to the article, the family did not put the city on notice after the incident, a decision they are reconsidering now, as the maintenance issues the center has have not been addressed.

"Unfortunately, over the last 20 years, I''ve seen a significant deterioration in the structure of the building housing these organizations," said Dr. Michael Nupuf, who addressed the council in regard to the safety concerns at the site.

"Maintenance at the building hasn''t been kept up as well as it should have over time," Nupuf added.
