GRAND JUNCTION, CO — Housing Resources recently earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for its decades-old office building, according to the Free Press.
Housing Resource''s Plaza del Sol building is the first previously existing structure in Mesa County to achieve the internationally recognized green building certification, the article noted.
To reach LEED certification, Housing Resources met mandatory requirements in five categories: Sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality, the article stated.
At least 60 percent of the building''s energy usage is offset by purchases of renewable energy sources, the article added.
