CLEARWATER BEACH, FL — Even though event organizers had to contend with unexpected water damage just hours prior to setup, the Connections East Trade Show at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort started right on schedule yesterday morning, according to a press release.
According to the release, a thunderstorm came up quickly Wednesday night, and by 9:30 p.m., it had flooded 5,000 square feet of the Connections East trade show floor with one inch of water.
Fortunately, the Legend Brands show truck was outside with the new Dri-Eaz Big Gulp 4500 extraction system and BLUEline ThermalWave II on board and ready for action, the release stated.
Legend Brands staff Thom Fielding and Glen Galatan worked side by side with show organizers Barry Costa, Larry Cooper and Dennis Iverson for more than two hours to extract the show floor, and then placed drying equipment to finish the job overnight, the release noted.
A Connections Convention manager said: "We would have been here all night if we only had portables to use. We really appreciated the help!"
Sudden thunderstorms are beyond human control, but designing equipment for fast and effective response to floods is no accident, the release added.
