On Friday, Gonzalez was returning to an apartment to fix a broken window from a possible robbery and was shot in the abdomen by one of the robbers, Metro police said.
When Gonzalez, accompanied by one of his colleagues, approached the apartment, they saw several black men standing outside the apartment, police said.
At that time, the maintenance men returned to their shop and called police to report a possible robbery, the article noted.
The maintenance men then left their shop to fix the window, when they were approached on Leeann Street by one of the potential robbers from earlier, the article stated.
According to the article, the man pulled a handgun and fired several shots at the two maintenance men, killing one of them and hitting the other in the arm.
