Kimberly-Clark awards $1.3 million in scholarships

IRVING, TX — The Kimberly-Clark Foundation, responsible for the corporation''s charitable giving, recently announced the recipients of it 2010 Bright Futures college scholarship program, according to a press release.
According to the release, the Kimberly-Clark Foundation provided a total of $1.3 million dollars to students in 11 U.S. states and one Canadian province.
The Bright Futures program was established in 1993 and awards scholarships worth up to $20,000 dollars for full-time students studying at an accredited school to children of Kimberly-Clark Corporation employees, both in the United States and Canada, the release stated.
This year, the foundation received 257 applications, out of which 64 recipients were chosen based on academic achievement, leadership and the students'' involvement in extra curricular activities, the release noted.
Members of this year''s scholarship class have been accepted into top institutions, including Duke University, Cornell University, Texas A&M University and Northwestern University, the release added.
