LEWISTON, ID — Tough times in Nez Perce County were made obvious this week, as commissioners cut four and a half jobs and reduced the hours of two others, according to KLEW-TV.
The commission unanimously approved the decision last Thursday: The employees who lost their jobs were let go immediately and given a severance package, the article stated.
County Commission Chairman Doug Zenner said janitorial services will now be handled by Western Building Maintenance.
Even with the cost of janitorial supplies, the switch will save the county $127,000 in the 2011 budget: Until the switch is made, Zenner said, all county workers are pitching in, the article noted.
