GLEN ROCK, NJ — ARAMARK Management Services LP recently held a job fair for custodians who lost their jobs as the result of the district''s decision to outsource, according to the Glen Rock Gazette.
On May 9, the Glen Rock Board of Education awarded ARAMARK the contract for district custodial services outside of any daytime supervisory positions, the article stated.
According to the article, the Glen Rock Education Association (GREA) is finalizing a list of district custodian seniority to determine the daytime staffing still coordinated by the schools.
"Although the outsourcing is mostly for night shift, a custodian is a custodian, and if a night person has more seniority, he is entitled to the day job," said Board of Education President Rona McNabola.
GREA President Anne Camp was unaware how many district custodians attended the ARAMARK job fair or how many ARAMARK might hire into their ranks, the article noted.
