SEATTLE — Puget Sound janitors have officially ratified their new contract, according to KIRO-TV.
The 3,000 members of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 6 voted to ratify the new four-year contract on Saturday, the article stated.
According to the article, the new contract provides a small wage increase, while protecting health benefits.
"This is a victory for janitors, the economy and our community," said Govania Speight, a janitor and member of the bargaining team.
"Our contract raises wages and preserves our healthcare coverage, ensuring that janitors stay on a path out of poverty, can contribute to the economy and help improve the quality of life for all our community," Speight added.
