VIRGINIA BEACH — Two janitors are facing larceny charges after a city audit revealed money had been stolen from locker rental collections, according to The Virginian-Pilot.
A routine audit at the Bayside Recreation Center revealed a large first-quarter discrepancy in the amount of money collected from locker rentals as compared to the first quarter in 2010, the article stated.
According to the article, upon further investigation, the police charged Michael Andrew Gregory, Jr. and Jimmy L. Smith, employed by Red Coats Inc., with the theft.
The amount stolen totaled nearly $5,000 and was cashed at various Coinstar locations throughout Virginia Beach, the article noted.
