NEW YORK — A PS 160 custodian doesn''t want to be called a hero, but his actions might have saved a child''s life, according to WNBC-TV.
Custodian John Velasquez was sweeping outside the Bronx school on Friday morning when he noticed and older man approach a young boy, the article stated.
According to the article, when Velasquez saw the man grab the child''s hand, he approached the pair and asked the boy if he knew the man; the man claimed to be his uncle, while the boy said he didn''t know him.
"So, I grabbed the child by his hand and I walked him straight to security," said Velasquez.
"The man''s eyes were bulging, he was definitely on something. I believe he had really bad intentions," Velasquez added.
Velasquez regularly sees the boy walking to school and says he often waits outside before they let students in, the article noted.
The school posted a letter on its website alerting parents about the incident and warned them that children should not be left unattended before school is open, the article added.
