MODESTO, CA — Lakewood Elementary said goodbye to its longtime janitor on Wednesday, according to The Modesto Bee.
Students gathered for a short assembly last week to say goodbye to longtime janitor Jim Loveless, the article stated.
According to the article, Loveless is retiring after 18 years at Lakewood and a total of 25 years in the Modesto City Schools district.
Loveless said the best part of his job was "to be out with the children at lunchtime. I get to be the grandfather."
Lakewood students were eager to learn that Loveless owns a kayak, but their janitor earned a collective "ew" when they learned his favorite food is salad, the article noted.
