TULSA, OK — Azande Campbell, a janitor for Goodwill Industries, is to receive the Perseverance Award for the difficulties that he has had to overcome since he was 5 years old, reported the Tulsa World.

When Campbell was only a five-year-old, he was involved in a terrible accident; while the doctors were unsure of how he would recover, Campbell worked hard for his entire life, graduated high school and went to work at Goodwill, the article stated.

Even when his injuries cropped up again, and he had to take some time off, Campbell pushed himself and ended up going back to work, the article stated.

Due to his life long ability to push himself and overcome his disabilities, Goodwill will be giving the Perseverance Award to Campbell, the article stated.

"My parents raised me to be a normal kid, not a person with a disability," said Campbell. "They would push me to do better, and that''s my goal — to do better and to keep on keepin'' on."
