REEDSPORT, OR — A Department of Human Services/Child Welfare (DHS) janitor has been charged with theft and criminal mischief, according to The Umpqua Post.
On June 16, employees of DHS reported personal property of two foster children stolen during the weekend of June 11-12, the article stated.
According to the article, police officers contacted Janice Emerson, 55, who had provided janitorial services to the DHS office on the afternoon of June 12.
Emerson told police she had assumed the property was to be thrown out and placed it near the building dumpster; however, several of the missing items were found in Emerson''s home, the article noted.
