WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a stopgap funding measure, which includes the extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through November 18, according to Business Insurance.
The Senate had previously passed a stopgap funding bill, which included the NFIP; the House passed the measure 352-66, the article stated.
According to the article, President Obama is expected to sign the bill today.
In the past, lawmakers have extended the NFIP in pieces, even allowing it to lapse several times, as the House and Senate could not agree on what the NFIP should and should not cover, the article noted.
