SHEFFIELD, UK — A ban on visitors at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital, hit by an outbreak of norovirus, is starting to show results, according to The Star.
Last week, hospital managers began barring patients in the adult wards from receiving visitors, in hopes of stopping the spread of the highly contagious stomach bug, the article stated.
According to the article, the ban is expected to continue through today, when staff will evaluate the situation and decide whether or not to lift the ban.
"We understand how difficult this has been for patients and relatives and thank them and the community for their patience and understanding," said Chief nurse Alfonzo Tramontano.
"We are beginning to break the cycle of this illness and hope to open to visitors again as soon as we can," Tramontano added.
