KNOXVILLE, TN — The Knox County Health Department is looking for ways to fund its in-school vaccine program as funding changes threaten their ability to fully fund the program, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.
Funding changes on the federal and state levels have increased the department''s vaccination costs, which have made providing the in-school vaccination program a struggle, the article stated.
According to the article, Knox County''s School-located Influenza Vaccination Clinics, commonly known as the FluMist program, have been successful in reducing the amount of flu in the community over the last seven years.
Since its inception eight years ago, only one Knox County School has closed due to flu, the article noted.
