LAKE FOREST, IL — As part of National Safety Month, the National Safety Council (NSC) has launched Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls Week sponsored by Grainger, according to a press release.
NSC''s Injury Facts 2012 indicated that falls account for more than 8.7 million emergency room visits in the U.S. each year, the release stated.
According to the release, five suggestions to help create a safer environment at work and at home include:
1. Create good housekeeping practices
2. Reduce wet or slippery surfaces
3. Avoid creating obstacles in aisles and walkways
4. Create and maintain proper lighting
5. Wear proper shoes.
