According to the story, the former Major League Baseball
(MLB) pitchers threw out ceremonial first pitches and handed out autographed baseballs to each student.
Davis, who coaches at Hosford, said: "It means everything. Just the fact that we''re going to be able to host a home game and build community support, it''s just going to be a big thing. This is really a state-of-the-art field. You won''t find another middle school baseball field as nice as the ones we have here."
The new baseball and softball fields are complete with bleachers, scoreboards and a press box along with new fencing, spacious dugouts and a storage area filled with equipment like new uniforms and a mower to maintain the fields, the story noted.
A pitching machine and batting cage structure are also in the works, a giant leap from the cow pasture that was used as a practice field last year, the story added.
