Friday''s Ask the Experts question from a cleaning professional on the International Custodial Advisors Network (ICAN) "Ask the Experts" page: I was asked to clean and maintain a vinyl plank floor installed over concrete.
It was installed one year ago and was never maintained; no cleaner or sealer has ever been used.
There is noticeable adhesive left on the plank, attracting dirt. Asphalt has been tracked in, as well as salt and other contaminates.
I told the owner I would research this and get back to him with suggestions and a maintenance schedule.
The answer:
It would be best to first locate the manufacturer and study their cleaning guides.
Mannington makes a commercial vinyl plank called Nature’s Path; their online chart shows no damage to the product with an application of alcohol or mineral spirits.
If that is true for the floor you are bidding ... — Gary Clipperton, president of National Pro Clean Corporation.
