Friday''s Ask the Experts question from a cleaning professional on the International Custodial Advisors Network (ICAN) "Ask the Experts" page: I am bidding for a school area of 31,150 sq. ft. in London. This is a 3-storey plus basement building. 3 cleaners will be responsible for cleaning 5x/week at £6.45/h ( with supplies) I have never bid on cleaning/labor only. Question...what price per sq. foot is acceptable in London?

The answer:

I am not trying to be cute when I tell you that the acceptable price is the one that lets you do the work well and profitably. Your price per sq. ft. from your numbers is: 3x5x8x£6.45 or £774/ week. Annually, that amounts to £40,248 or £1.29 per sq.ft. per year. In US dollars that is about $2.02, which may seem a bit high here, but may not be in London. So, to answer your question ... — Lynn E. Krafft, ICAN/ATEX editor
