Friday''s Ask the Experts question from a cleaning professional on the International Custodial Advisors Network (ICAN) "Ask the Experts" page: I remember reading something concerning the "dot " method that Walmart uses to identify layers of floor finish on a floor and they use the dots to determine to buff, scrub and recoat, or to strip. Can you share that information with me again?
The answer:
We recommend putting down your base coat(s) and marking the top base coat with a red marking pencil. Then put down another coat and mark it with a yellow marking pencil. Put down another coat and mark it with a green marking pencil. Put down as many additional coats as necessary.
Train your employees to look for the 3 dots as they scrub the floor. If they see the green dot they scrub and go. If they don’t see the green dot but see a yellow dot they caution ...
