We have a building is 25,000 square feet and to be cleaned three times per week.
My intent is to staff it with four people at a cleaning time of three hours each day.
What are your thoughts?
The answer:
Four cleaners working for three hours amounts to 12 person-hours a day.
Divide 25,000 square feet by 12 and you have a production rate of 2,083 square feet per hour.
If this is an office building with normal usage and population, the figure seems low; if it is a medical facility with sanitation demands that take time, it may be about right or even high.
