FORT WORTH, TX — In answering to growing demands for resumes stuffed with sustainability efforts, Fort Worth''s AUI Contractors has become the first Texas firm to earn a Certified Green Contractor designation by the Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. (ABC), according to the Forth Worth Business Press.
New to the ABC the Green Contractor Certification program recognizes construction companies that implement green practices and principles in the workplace, including headquarters, branch offices and jobsite offices, the article noted.
According to the article, the Green Contractor Certification is the first such designation specifically for the construction industry: In recent years, the U.S. Green Building Council''s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification has been the gauge for sustainability in construction projects.
"The Certified Green Contractor program is another step in ABC''s goal to provide support and recognition for those members who are setting an example for the industry by promoting sustainability practices within the workplace as well as in their construction practices," said W. Brewster Earle, chair of the ABC National Green Building Committee.
