HOLLISTER, CA — The Spring Grove School community is mourning former custodian Joey Corral, 59, who has died after a battle with cancer, according to the Hollister Free Lance.

The school spent much of last spring raising money for Corral and his family, the article stated.

According to the article, an estimated $25,000 was raised through numerous fundraising activities, including "Two Buck Tuesdays," when students were encouraged to make a small donation.

"He had a very positive attitude — even with the cancer — and he didn''t let that get him down," said Jenny Bernosky, superintendent/principal of the North County School District.

"He was always smiling. He was just a wonderful man; always thoughtful," Bernosky added.
