LINCOLNTON, NC — After a church opened their doors to a troubled youth, that same young man turned around to take advantage of their kindness, according to WSOC-TV.

Brandon Barnette, 19, had a lengthy criminal record that would have made it next to impossible for the young man to get a job, the article stated.

According to the article, Without Walls Freedom Center took a chance on Barnette, hiring him as a janitor as part of the Center''s outreach program to help people reform their lives.

While Barnette started as a good employee, investigators believe the teen was stealing from the Center almost daily, the article noted.

After quitting his job, Barnette broke in to the church through a window he had left unlocked and stole close to $4,000 of money intended for a mission trip to Haiti, the article added.
