WARWICK, RI — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reminded flood victims that aid granted to them is not taxable, according to The Providence Journal.
The assistance provided after the flooding in March is not subject to income tax, self-employment tax or employment taxes, such as Social Security, Medicare and federal unemployment taxes, FEMA said.
FEMA also says it continues to respond to questions from flood survivors on how to repair and rebuild to make their homes more disaster resistant.
The widespread concern from individuals seeking information has been with mold and mildew, the article stated.
FEMAs booklet "Mold & Mildew — Cleaning Up Your Flood-Damaged Home" is one of the many publications still available at self-serve displays, the article noted.
