Ecolab event raises funds for foundation

CHICAGO — Ecolab Inc. raised more than $128,000 for the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) at a silent auction during the 10th Annual Ecolab Chairman''s Reception, according to a press release.

More than 800 foodservice operators and guests attended the event, which is held during the National Restaurant Association (NRA) Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show in Chicago, the release stated.

According to the release, the contributions will support NRAEF''s ProStart program, including scholarships for students seeking professions in the restaurant and foodservice industry.

Over the last 10 years, Ecolab has raised more than $1.2 million for NRAEF and its ProStart program, a nationwide, two-year high school program that unites the classroom and industry to develop the best and brightest talent into tomorrow''s restaurant and foodservice leaders, the release noted.

"Every year, we are honored that so many industry leaders join us for this special event and show their support for the valuable educational and training programs the NRAEF provides," said Douglas M. Baker, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Ecolab.

"Effective education and training are critical to the long-term success of our industry, and we are proud to support the NRAEF and the dynamic workforce they are developing for the restaurant and foodservice industry," Baker added.
