STURTEVANT, WI — Diversey Inc.
is dropping plans to add a production line at its distribution plant in Sturtevant, resulting in the loss of 85 jobs over the next two years, according to the Journal Sentinel.
"Following extensive study and engineering reviews, Diversey has now concluded it is not financially feasible to construct a plant within the distribution center," a company statement said.
"Specifically, the costs involved to construct firewalls and make the building suitable for handling hazardous materials made the proposal too expensive," said John Matthews, senior vice president of corporate affairs for the Sturtevant-based company.
Diversey said it will move some production into other company-owned facilities in Watertown and London, Ontario, the article noted.
Diversey also is planning to move work to contract manufacturers in the region and will try to have as many of the 85 affected workers as possible placed with whatever company is chosen for the work, the article stated.
