The Environmental Excellence Award from Energy Education will go to Kearsley Community Schools for saving more than $668,000 in 28 months through energy-efficient behavior, the story stated.
In the first 28 months of Kearsley Community Schools'' Energy Education program, the district has saved the equivalent of 4,224 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which is the equivalent of removing 758 cars from the road, the story noted.
Kearsley Community Schools Superintendent Jeff Morgan said: "Custodians, teachers, administrators, support staff, everybody made this happen. It was definitely a team effort."
The Environmental Excellence Award will be presented at 7 p.m. on May 10 in the media center of Armstrong Middle School, the story added.
