ROYERSFORD, PA — The Spring-Ford Area School District has ended its contract with Jani-King Cleaning Service and signed a one-year deal with Interstate Maintenance Corporation, according to The Mercury.

The move is thought to give the district a savings of nearly $175,000 for the 2012-2013 school year, the article stated.

According to the article, the board approved the move in a unanimous vote; another unanimous vote served to terminate Jani-King''s contract.

Although the board never gave an official reason for the change in cleaning services, the district re-evaluated the square footage of cleaning space in the buildings and determined that Interstate Maintenance could do it cheaper, the article noted.

One thing that really stood out to me about this article was the word choice by Bruce Cooper, the director of planning, operations and facilities for the Spring-Ford Area School District. He said, "It was determined that Interstate Maintenance could do it cheaper." I am not saying anything to the ability of either Interstate or Jani-King, as I am sure both companies provide quality services, I simply wonder if his word choice is an indication of what price shopping often returns in terms of thoroughness.
