PIGEON, MI — The fate of the current custodial staff remains uncertain as contract negotiations continue, according to the Huron Daily Tribune.

Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker Superintendent Bob Smith has sent out a new request for proposal for custodial work, asking for separate custodial and maintenance bids, the article stated.

According to the article, the district laid off two custodians last week, at a savings of nearly $60,000.

Smith believes the remaining five custodians would have a hard time handling the entire campus during the school year, and has given the board until October to make a decision on a custodial contract, the article noted.
