KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — The Upper Merion Area School District recently acquired a second Gen X - Duo Bot robotic floor scrubber from Intellibot, according to a press release.

Due to tightening budgets and decreased staffing, the robotic scrubbers have become an integral part of the custodial operation at Upper Merion, the release stated.

According to the release, the implementation of the scrubbers freed up hard surface floor care duties at the high school and middle school; these duties were typically assigned to the p.m. shift head custodians.

As a result, they reconfigured their cleaning schedules, creating a blended cleaning system utilizing team cleaning, zone cleaning and robotic floor care, resulting in a hybrid approach that Upper Merion has coined UMARICS for the Upper Merion Advanced Robotic Integrated Cleaning System, the release noted.
