This week''s discussion focuses on Chemical Sensitivities.
With seemingly endless legislation being passed requiring environmentally preferable cleaning in schools and government buildings across North America and Europe, one wonders what the outcome has been.
For those with asthma, allergies or other chemical sensitivities, these mandatory regulations and guidelines are a blessing. Some, however, including service contractors with fixed operating costs and in-house operations with tight budgets, might view this as a burden.
Have you had any experience working in a facility or a geographic region requiring cleaning and maintenance chemicals and procedures that do not negatively affect human health? Do you have employees with chemical sensitivities or work in an environment with such individuals?
What suggestions can you offer short of mandating "green" practices?
