DETROIT — Facility services provider Devon Facility Management (DFM) announced that they have become the first minority-owned business in the state of Michigan to achieve ISSA''s Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) certification, according to a press release.

According to the release, DFM is also only the third CIMS-certified provider in the state.

DFM President David Burnley said: "By implementing the CIMS, Devon Facility Management is positioned to better serve our customers and become more operationally efficient. The result is cost savings for us and, more importantly, the people we serve."

DFM, provider and consolidator of facility management and janitorial services to help manufacturing companies cut costs and improve efficiency, was established in 2007 and is a subsidiary of Devon Industrial Group, the release stated.

DFM Program Manager Randy Martin said: "I think we saw how strong our processes really are. CIMS certification has helped us further organize, improve and understand how our janitorial procedures interrelate. "

DFM is now planning to complete the requirements for ISSA CIMS Green Building certification this summer, which offers a framework for providing environmentally friendly cleaning service, the release added.
