MEMPHIS, TN — A two-person cleaning crew at Premier Kids Enrichment Center was robbed by three armed men while waxing the daycare''s floors, according to WHBQ-TV.
According to the story, the incident occurred early in the morning, so no children were present.
The husband and wife cleaning crew was followed through the backdoor of the building where they were told to get on the ground and cover their heads while the suspects sifted through their belongings, eventually leaving with their wallets, cash, keys, a cell phone and some tools, the story stated.
Sergeant Kedzie White of the Memphis Police Department''s Robbery Bureau said: "They weren''t injured, just scared. He''s 58, she''s 52. Just good, decent people trying to earn a living. These individuals were probably aware that people were in the building cleaning that time of morning or had seen them prior to the actual incident itself. According to the victims, they didn''t hear a car drive up and didn''t hear one leave. It''s a safe assumption [the suspects] live close and were on foot."
Surveillance video of the entire incident, which was released to the Memphis Police Department, shows one suspect with a red baseball cap and another without a shirt; the angle and shadows make it difficult to see the third suspect, the story noted.
The robbers took nothing from the daycare itself, the story added.
