OAKLAND, CA — Oakland school custodians have answered their superintendant''s call to action, according to The Education Report.
The custodians have setup a scholarship fund for Oakland''s African-American students, the article stated.
According to the article, the custodians have found numerous ways to raise the money, including selling Oakland Raiders tickets, organizing a talent show and holding raffles.
In the scholarship''s first year, custodians have raised $10,000, which will be awarded to 11 African-American boys and girls at a ceremony on Saturday, the article noted.
