JAY, ME — Students, staff and the rest of the community are mourning the sudden and unexpected loss of a custodian and bus driver for Jay Elementary School, according to the Sun Journal.

Paul LeBlanc, a "kid-oriented" custodian who allowed interested students to assist in his lunch cleanup duties, fell ill while at work Monday and passed away as he was being transported to the hospital, the story stated.

Jay Elementary School Principal Chris Hollingsworth said: "When you talk about Jay Elementary School, this was really Paul''s school. Many of the prekindergarten and kindergarten students thought LeBlanc was the principal."

There was not a dry eye in the school for the remainder of the day after Hollingsworth had to tell the staff about the tragic loss of their beloved custodian, the story noted.

The cause of death is unknown at this time, the story added.
